Dr. Willem Smuts led our 3-day MASTERMINING course: "Understanding the Mining Industry From A to Z"
at the Radisson Admiral Hotel on February 26-28 where participants learned about mine life stages, exploration, mining studies, the mining process, design and planning, quantification and interpretation, extraction and processing, rehabilitation, the economics of mining and financing and deal-making.
MineAfrica held its annual panel discussion with Webber Wentzel (joined by africapractice this year) on the opening day of PDAC. The discussion covered a timely topic; "Will the African Mining Vision Promote Mining Investment in Africa at a Time of Uncertain Commodity Prices"

took place on Tuesday March 3. The sold-out breakfast, which has become the biggest African mining event in North America, featured an opening address by Ngoako Ramathlodi, South Africa's Minister of Mineral Resources and a keynote address by Paul Brink, Senior Vice President, Business Development, Franco-Nevada Corporation.
Following breakfast, twenty mining companies, African Mining Ministers and expert advisors to the mining industry delivered concise presentations covering African mining projects, investment opportunities and doing business in Africa's mining industry, in four concurrent seminar rooms.
