30,000 delegates attended PDAC 2013 and those with an interest in Africa had three MineAfrica programs in which to participate.

We also ran our 3-day MASTERMINING course: Understanding the Mining Industry From A to Z just prior to PDAC.

A. The week kicked off with a panel discussion on Navigating Africa's Mining Terrain: Perceptions and Reality on Sunday morning where participants learned from senior partners of leading African law firm Webber Wentzel on key topics impacting Africa's mining industry including: 1) the Growth of Resource Nationalism in Africa; 2) How to Successfully Invest in African Mining; 3) From Marikana to Mangaung; What Now for South African mining?; and 4) The South African Mineral Regime: Key Trends and Major Outlook. B. The highlight of the week was the Chamber's 14th Annual Mining Breakfast and MineAfrica's 11th Annual Investing in African Mining seminar with Premier Sponsor SGS and Corporate Sponsor Fasken Martineau on Tuesday March 5. A record 385 participants took in the largest African Mining event in North America over the course of the morning, which featured an opening address by Godfrey Oliphant, Deputy Minister, Mineral Resources, Republic of South Africa and an inspiring keynote address by Robert Friedland, Executive Chairman and Founder, Ivanplats Limited.

Following breakfast, twenty mining companies, African Mining Ministers and expert advisors to the mining industry delivered concise presentations covering African mining projects, investment opportunities and doing business in Africa's mining industry, in four concurrent seminar rooms.
