MineAfrica at PDAC 2010 Report
with premier sponsor SGS
PDAC 2010 drew a record 22,000 delegates and featured 1,000 exhibitors in the trade show and Investors Exchange. And judging from the traffic, discussions and buzz in the MineAfrica booths mining in Africa is top of mind for a lot of people.
Just a quick note to thank you for another fantastic week at the PDAC! This year's event was a major success for us and I am delighted with the progress we've made in a year's time. Your assistance with the booth and our continued relationship with the MineAfrica seminars are key contributors and I can assure you of our appreciation - Reinette Classen, Chief Operating Officer: Sales & Marketing, Creamer Media (Mining Weekly).
The record setting continued at the Canada-South Africa Chamber of Business 11th Annual Mining Breakfast and MineAfrica's 8th Annual Investing in African Mining Seminar on Tuesday March 9, 2010. The morning, which is the largest African focussed mining event in North America, drew a record 340 participants - up from 235 in 2009.
Having worked on 5 continents in an array of business sectors, I have never attended such a well attended breakfast session in terms of level of individual, cross section of organizations servicing one sector and variety of countries not usually present at such events. The presentations were short and sharp, yet informative. Overall nothing less than a sterling event! I have no doubt your expansion strategy will be MOST successful. Well done gents!! - Mark Coetzee, President, Drake International
The breakfast featured welcoming remarks from Tony Andrews, Executive Director, PDAC, Christie Christelis, Chamber Chairman, and Jean Richardson, Global Marketing Director with Premier Sponsor SGS. Simon Village, Chairman, Banro Corporation delivered a well-received keynote address on The African Resource Development Cycle.
Thanks very much for inviting Banro Chairman Simon Village to present the key-note address at the MineAfrica breakfast. It was quite a success - we had people coming by the Banro booth all day long to talk about it.... - Martin Jones, Vice President, Corporate Development, Banro Corporation
MineAfrica's seminar featured a blend of presentations from African governments, mining companies active in Africa, and financial, legal and engineering experts on doing business in Africa. Download the presentations at the bottom of this page.
The increasing popularity of MineAfrica is a reflection & testament of the number of African-centric companies operating out of & listed in Canada - Shabnam Bashir, Investor Relations, African Aura Mining Inc.

One of the key benefits of the morning is its specific focus on mining investment in Africa, which makes for excellent networking and relationship building opportunities amidst the chaos of PDAC.
